WEEK 5: Sejahtera as Local Concept of Sustainable Development

This week we are back with our padlet assignment. This time we're tasked to go and explore the Dar al-Hikmah Library IIUM for information of Sejahtera as Local Concept of Sustainable Development. As last time we focused on international framework, now we are exposed to the local concept.

This chapter introduces us to localizing sustainability, which is to take a regional approach to creating and implementing sustainable initiatives that meets the needs and expectations of customers in a particular region, country, language or culture.

Through today's task, we discovered some books as reference such as "Managing Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation in the Islamic World" and "An Introduction to Sustainable Development, 2nd and 4th edition". Some lesson we acquired are:

1. Emphasizes on the importance of balance and harmony in our relationship with nature for a sustainable life. Sustainable Development and Sejahtera aligns in term of transforming into a more exclusive society in which benefits of increased economy prosperity are shared while reducing pollution and waste.

2. Promote mutual respect, understanding and collaboration amongst various social groups are emphasized. It encourages universality, recognizing and honoring the variations in social background, culture, language, religion and ethnicity.

That's all from this week. Let's hope through localizing we can increase partake in implementation of Sustainable Development!
